From March 12 to May 4, ourFirst Experimental Schoolsuccessfully held its 8th Eng-lishLanguageFestival.According to the abilities ofthe students in differentgrades, they carried out vari-ous activities. Junior 1 stu-dents had an English singingcompetition whilst Junior 2had an English speech con-test. There were also othercompetitions held, for Englishhandwriting and hand-writtennewspapers（手 抄 报）. What'smore, all the students participated（参加）in the English vocabularycompetition.The primary schoolcarried out a variety of activities,such as the English festival's pre-sentation（汇报表演）, dubbing(配音), English handwriting, mindmap word and self-made picturebook competitions. These activi-ties were so novel(新颖) and var-ied that the students not only gotactively involved but also enjoyedthemimmensely(极大地）.
In the singing competition, thegroupsofstudents'wonderfulsing-ing and good English pronuncia-tion won the audience's applause.Additionally, the contestants（选手）of the speech contest on thetheme“Our Motherland”shoneon stage and impressed the audi-ence. Their speeches accompa-nied（伴 随）with fantastic PPTslides were very inspiring andmoving. Moreover, the Englishhand-written newspapers were soexcellent that teachers couldn'tbear to filter out(淘汰) any pieceofwork.
On April 28, the prima-ry school held their Eng-lish festival presentation.Four little hosts（男主持）and hostesses from Grade 1spoke in fluent（流利的）English, and faced thehundreds of spectators（观 众）in front of thestage without fear. Theyshowed their graceful de-meanor (风度优雅) andthe audience gave them heartyrounds of applause（鼓掌）. Thenthe lovely children gave wonderfulperformances.This English festival is a fantisticplatform(平台) to showcase（展示）our characteristic（特色的）English teaching and its achieve-ments（成就）. With the spirit ofspeaking and using English, thefestival stimulated（激 发）thestudents' interest in learning, im-proved their abilities of using thelanguage and brought them a lot ofjoy andconfidence（自信）.
